Pay: $16.35 - $20.69 per hour, DOQ

This position assists in the maintenance and repair of the city's water and sewer systems. Positions are available for weekday hours, up to 40 hours per week, 7:00am - 3:30pm. This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

- Assist in the repair and maintenance of fire hydrants including painting, greasing, and flushing
- Assist treatment plant operators in daily activities
- Clean and paint pump houses, Water Treatment Plant, and booster stations
- Repair, raise, and tie-in curb stops
- Repair sanitary and storm sewers
- Perform the jetting of sanitary and storm sewers
- Cut grass around lift stations and other buildings
- Maintain good relations with co-workers and the public
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations such as wearing and using safety equipment to protect our operations and the public
- Assist other city staff as assigned
- Work outdoors in all types of weather
- Other duties as assigned
- 18 years of age or older (by start of employment)
- High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and heavy manual tasks when required, including lifting up to 70 pounds
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B with air brake endorsement
- Graduate of a water/wastewater technical program
- Class SD Waste and/or Class D Water license(s)
Previous experience in public works utilities maintenance, light construction, or equipment maintenance
Working Conditions and Work Hours: 100% in the field. Employees required to work outdoors in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, 40 hours per week.
