Water Park Operations Assistant
Summer 2025 Leadership Position
Pay: $22.236 per hour
Seasonal/Temporary, Non-Exempt, Not Benefit Eligible
Spend your summer at the region’s largest outdoor municipal waterpark assisting with the supervision, coordinator, and daily operations of Cascade Bay Waterpark.

The Water Park Operations Assistant starts in April and ends early September (some flexibility with start and end dates). Scheduled shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays (approximately 35-40 hours/week).

In this job you will:
- Provide high quality customer service and create a positive experience for guests and staff
- Provide onsite direction to Cascade Bay seasonal staff involved with overall operations including on-deck, admissions and concessions areas, private rentals, group and birthday party reservations, and special events
- Ensure a high level of customer service and the sustainability of high-quality facility and programs
- Coordinate with facility users, group leaders, and special event managers to ensure event details and service needs are being met
- Monitor facility rules and regulations; ensure safety protocols are being followed by staff and users in accordance with OSHA, the MN State Health Department, and the American Red Cross
- Assist with the hiring, training, orientation, and scheduling of seasonal staff
- Respond to inquiries and concerns relating to participants, programs, staff, public and weather-related issues
- Assist with record keeping including daily deposits and weekly revenue statistics
- Work independently and keep the Supervisor informed of all issues, needs, and concerns
- Supervise seasonal coordinators and seasonal facilities staff:
- Foster a culture of safety, fun, learning, growth-mindset, and teamwork
- Assist with pre-season staff trainings and weekly in-service trainings
- Assist with staff scheduling, sub requests, and daily operations
- Mentor and coach staff who need additional training or behavior redirection
- Complete mid/post season evaluations of Coordinators
- Follow Cascade Bay staff policies and procedures
- When the supervisor is not available, make decision to reduce staff due to low attendance, weather, etc. and facility closures if necessary
- Assist with end-of-season duties and complete post-season reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
What is needed to apply for this job?
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum of 2 years (seasons) experience working in an aquatic’s setting, recreation program, food service, customer relations, or retail
- Minimum 1 year (season) of supervisory experience
- Experience in conflict resolution
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of at least one (1) year of college coursework or equivalent experience
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and flexible environment
- Socially, physically, and mentally perform all essential position functions under the working conditions as described
- Strong communication skills able to reach diverse audience and ages
- Abe to lift and move 50 pounds
Additional Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Degree or considerable course work leading to a degree or equivalent in Parks and Recreation or a related field
- Significant work experience with aquatics or recreation programs that includes decision making or supervision
- Significant customer service experience that includes conflict resolution in a recreation or retail setting
- Experience with cash registers, retail, food preparation and cash depositing procedures
- Experience with light maintenance duties including facility inspections and daily pool chemical logs
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
Working Conditions:
The work environment is both indoors and outdoors and can involve contact with variable weather. The employee will be required to work in all weather conditions experienced in Eagan during the months of April – September. Weather conditions encountered may include air temperatures from -30°F to 100°F, and heat indexes to 110°F, rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc.
