Starting Pay: $48,000
The Human Resources Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The primary emphasis (70%) of this role will be responsible for administering employee benefit programs (health and retirement plans), employee leave of absences, FMLA, workers compensation, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position requires an individual with excellent organizational and communication skills and thorough knowledge of benefit plans and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; talent management; recognition; and occupational health and safety.
Manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefit plans, including health, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement plans. Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of benefit data. Participate in the annual renewal process.
Manage the family medical leaves and worker’s compensation cases.
Oversee new hires and open enrollment, ensuring timely and accurate enrollment of employees.
Maintain and update benefit records.
Analyze benefit programs for cost-effectiveness, competitive positioning, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assist with the development and implementation of benefit communication strategies, benefit programs, and policies.
Assist the Director of HR with reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Assist HR Director with the oversight of scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
May assist HR Director with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Oversee the process of recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Support HR Director with the process and implementation of new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
At least three years of human resource management experience preferred.
SHRM-CP a plus.
REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
