What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Aquatic Center - LIFEGUARD position at City of East Lansing?
Assure the safety of the Family Aquatic Center customers in and around the aquatic facility. Attend to other miscellaneous duties as instructed by Head Staff. Training is provided.

- Primary responsibilities are safety, security, and public relation
- Perform emergency rescues and First Aid
- Always maintain a safe environment in and around the aquatic facility
- Enforce all facility rules and policies effectively and equally
- Report potential hazards and unsafe conditions
- Refer customer service issues to the Manager on duty
- Attend and participate in mandatory weekly meetings and in-service trainings
- Provide positive, courteous, and helpful service to guests and fellow staff
- Report to duty 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the shift
- Perform cleaning/sanitizing of restrooms and facility as well as trash removal
- Perform facility equipment inspections, and other duties as directed by the Head Staff
- Complete other duties as assigned

The East Lansing Family Aquatic Center (ELFAC), located at 6400 Abbot Road, is an interactive outdoor water facility that provides a safe, family-oriented aquatic experience to patrons.
Qualifications
- Age 16 years or older
- Current or ability to obtain Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid certifications (May class)
- Prefer previous lifeguarding experience
- Good decision-making ability
- Ability to work and communicate positively with all ages
- Available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week
- Must be able to work various shifts 7 days a week (including weekends/holidays)
