Playcare Team Member- Evening and Weekends (Part-time)

Details
- Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt
- Starts at $12.50/hour
- Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Operations
- Located at Eden Prairie Community Center (16700 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, MN)
- Hours will primarily be weekday evenings and weekend hours
The Playcare Team Member role is to ensure a safe, comfortable, and creative environment in which children can play and learn. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Cares for newborns, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary age youth and facilitates Community Center programs and events while parent(s) or guardians(s) are utilizing the facility. Works independently with children of all ages and abilities in various settings, while creating a safe, comfortable and creative learning environment.
- Provides excellent customer service through effective communication and structured activities that creates a conducive environment for all based on customer needs. Upholds policies, procedures, health code standards while keeping customers appropriately informed to maintain a safe environment. Uses solution-based problem-solving skills when addressing concerns and policy enforcement to maintain a positive customer experience.
- Supports the Community Center division services including customer relations, meetings, events, and programs by providing general administrative support.
Requirements
- CPR (infant, child and adult) and First Aid certification within first 90 days of employment required and must keep their certification current each year. Two years related experience preferred; previous experience receiving work direction preferred.
- Must have the ability to lift/carry/pull up to 50 lbs. Close interaction with children is required and may include sitting on the floor, climbing, pulling and set up play equipment. May be exposed to air-borne pathogens or bodily fluids.
- Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification.
- Able to convey a message to get a point across. Communicates in a clear and concise manner. Able to write clearly and succinctly. Tailors message to a variety of communication settings and styles.
- Ability to perform and/or coordinate several activities, responsibilities, and tasks simultaneously in a polite and professional manner. Prioritizes what needs to get done. Keeps things neat and orderly. Utilizes tools for efficiency. Factors several considerations when planning. Establishes methods to ensure routine tasks are completed.
- Ability to tackle a problem by using logical, systematic, sequential approach. Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternatives. Notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information. Identifies a set of features, parameters or considerations to take into account in analyzing a situation or making a decision.
