The ideal candidate will be approachable and solution-oriented, has leadership presence, and seeks creative solutions to problems. A calm, even-keeled demeanor would be appropriate for this position.The new manager will lead by example and have a well-rounded background. Superior communication skills are vital, both verbally and in writing. Taking the time to explain issues and solutions is important, but done in a way that everyone can understand.A solid foundation in finance and budgeting is helpful, with an emphasis on long-range planning and outcome-oriented decision making. This includes experience with negotiating public safety union contracts. Good administrative skills are also important, The best candidates will be excited to dig into day-to-day operations to help increase efficiency and effectiveness.Preference will be given to applicants with graduate or undergraduate degrees in public administration or a related field with five (5) years’ experience as a chief administrative officer. Being a credentialled manager is desirable, but not required. Experience with governance and board relationships, leading a community through rapid growth, and delivering quality capital projects are key to success in this position. Experience with water and wastewater utilities, stormwater management, and emergency management would be beneficial.
