About this Position
The Fiscal Analyst role is an accounting position within the Finance Department. They gather information, check for fraud, prepare reports, reconcile City funds, and more. This role requires at least five (5) years of related experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and the ability to complete traditional accounting tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred)
- 5 years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of accounting and financial information
- Create, maintain, and prepare reports on the progress of daily accounting activities
- Review, create, record, verify, and reconcile City funds and accounts
- Troubleshoot accounting problems and record financial accounting data
- Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations based on data
- Confer, advise, and train on financial accounting best practices and procedures
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods
- Research and compile data to comply with federal, state, legal, and statutory financial reporting
- Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations of various accounts as assigned
- Participate in the development of the annual financial report, audit, and budget
- Assist with finance, management, and individual special projects as needed
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting rules, laws, and procedures
