About this Position
The Fiscal Analyst—Compliance is responsible for coordinating, gathering, maintaining, monitoring, and evaluating the City's day-to-day financial accounting activities, financial data information, general ledger software, regulatory statistical information, and finance-related information reported to the City's internal and external customers.
This accounting job may include information and analysis processing for auditing, budgeting, accounts payable, treasury management, revenue collection, purchasing, and utility customer services, all of which may include compiling financial data from multiple sources and subsequent analysis of that data to produce business information used to support decisions.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of accounting and financial information
- Create, maintain, and prepare reports on the progress of daily accounting activities
- Review, create, record, verify, and reconcile City funds and accounts
- Troubleshoot accounting problems and record financial accounting data
- Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations based on data
- Confer, advise, and train on financial accounting best practices and procedures
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods
- Research and compile data to comply with federal, state, legal, and statutory financial reporting
- Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations of various accounts as assigned
- Participate in the development of the annual financial report, audit, and budget
- Assist with finance, management, and individual special projects as needed
- Maintain current knowledge of accounting rules, laws, and procedures
Qualifications
- Broad knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field (preferred)
- 5 years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years of management experience
- People or project management
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

- Ability to apply GAAP and financial, accounting, and mathematical concepts
- Ability to speak clearly and listen to exchange information
- Exceptional telephone etiquette skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidential information
- Willingness to undergo initial and continuing skill training as needed
- Willingness to occasionally work extra hours as projects are required
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
