JOB
Under general supervision, supervises and supports staff and activities of inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment for the City.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to corrects deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures within the guidelines of City policies and proceduresInitiates, plans, organizes, prioritizes, coordinates, and supervises the projects and operations related to the activities of the Fleet and Equipment Services and staff.Supervises the purchases of fuel utilized by the City, maintains fuel management software, and maintains inventory, fuel use, and loads reports.Supervises the operation of the city-wide vehicle replacement program; research and prepare specifications for new equipment; obtains quotes and makes purchase recommendations. Prepares reports and information for City management, and completes purchases as directed.Assists with developing Fleet services annual budget and capital improvement plans. Develops and provides budgetary numbers and assists all City Departments to properly maintain their fleet.Establishes and participates in equipment work procedures, preventative maintenance, repair standards, service schedules, quality control programs and policies and procedures for hazardous waste and environmental issues.Supervises and oversees all parts inventory; develops and reviews specifications for supplies and parts necessary for fleet management; oversees data entry and fuel usage in fleet software system.Supervises, monitors, and maintains daily checks on fuel storage tanks, fuel dispensing systems, and manages inventory records for Department management.Supervises and monitors the work of external contractors performing work for the City; approves purchase orders and requests for expenditures related to tools, parts, and services.Proficient use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook. Implement and utilize the OpenGov suite including Cartegraph asset management and work order systems, Incode financial software, and Fuel Master fuel system hardware and software applications.Prepares sales and usage reports for reconciliation by Finance Department.Has frequent contact with employees, citizens, local state, federal agencies, and other city departments.Ability to arrive to work on time and maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance.Performs other duties as assigned
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Associates’ degree in automotive repair, machinery repair, or a related field and five (5) years’ experience in mechanical/automotive repair; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDA Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
