This is a non-supervisory position, which may involve some independent judgment. Duties include performing clerical work requiring the application of various complex work methods and procedures, in accordance with the laws and regulations controlling the employing department, and with departmental functions, policies, and practices.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Adheres to strict confidentiality regarding all aspects of the job and specific departmental guidelines Operates various office equipment to perform duties of the position, including minor maintenance such as clearing paper jams, adding paper, ribbons, etc. Completes statistical reports Completes petty cash disbursements and maintains a petty cash fund Picks up, sorts and distributes departmental mail Processes, copies, distributes and/or files computer printouts/cards, report forms, and warrants/arrest and files systematically Performs competently under stress when confronted with high priority situations and distractions Performs a variety of tasks, often changing quickly from one task to another without the loss of efficiency and composure Assists customers at the records counter: answers questions, sells report copies, handles requests for criminal checks and immigration letters, and various other special letters Reads, comprehends and records information in a timely manner from reports, correspondence, computer screens, and printouts Comprehends and performs applicable departmental orders and requests Conducts special research for staff members as requested Processes open records requests Prepares Felony, and Misdemeanor and Juvenile cases for court Issues licenses, permits, certificates or other legal documents in accordance with departmental rules and regulations Attends workshops/seminars or other required training applicable to the job requirements that may involve overnight travel Checks supplies in the squad room and replenishes as needed Testifies in court when the Records Supervisor is unavailable Assists crime victims with completing victim assistance applications for funding Assists Code compliance with stakeholder inquiries, mailings and filing casesAbility to arrive to work on time and must maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance.Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High school graduate or equivalent; Plus at least two (2) years' experience in clerical work, preferably with a local government entity (business school may be substituted equally for up to six months' work experience). Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred with the ability to read, write and speak fluently.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: A Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record. Ability to pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background investigation.
