This position provides clerical support for the Public Works Division.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Compiles information from the call log, work order log, and activity reports; produces daily reports.
- Processes garbage container delivery slips and maintains related files.
- Maintains files and prepares reports for daily deliveries to the county landfill.
- Tracks grease and septic dumped at the wastewater treatment plant; receives and maintains receipts.
- Prepares purchase orders, matches invoices to purchase orders, reviews and makes adjustment to invoices as needed and forwards to accounts payable for payment.
- Issues landfill permits to citizens.
- Maintains public works employee personnel files; ensures appropriate documents are filed in the folders.
- Maintains employee absentee records and processes payroll.
- Prepares performance appraisals for supervisors and forwards completed to human resources.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains office supplies; reorders as needed.
- Performs related duties.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Assistant Director of Public Works assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

- Contacts are typically with coworkers, other city employees, representatives of state and federal agencies, utility providers, and members of the general public.

- Knowledge and level of competency with sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with one to two years of administrative experience or experience in a related role.

- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
