Job Summary:
The Grant Project Coordinator will assist the Office of Development Services with grant writing and project management of state and federal grants and manage the Byrne Grant in collaboration with the Department of Economic and Community Development to lead collaborative efforts to improve safety and quality of life in the Erie Eastside neighborhood (6th to 26th Street, Wayne to Holland Streets), acting as a liaison between residents, community-based organizations, and law enforcement.
Specific Duties:
- Serve as the post-award grant project manager for grant awards that require coordination, facilitation, and program development to ensure implementation of projects, programs, and initiatives from State and Federal agencies such as Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), Department of Justice (DOJ), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Energy (DOE), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and others.
- Coordinate/build open lines of communication between residents, community organizations, law enforcement, and research partners to address safety and crime issues by implementing the designated community-based crime reduction (CBCR) strategy throughout 2025.
- Oversee the implementation of the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) Action Plan, including collaborative efforts to address priority crime problems and implement specific interventions by key law enforcement and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate planned activities such as National Night Out and community clean-ups in collaboration with the Love Your Block team.
- Manage and facilitate BCJI Steering Committee meetings. Work with the Communications Department to document and publicize BCJI and neighborhood achievements to build confidence and buy-in among program partners.
- Represent the City of Erie at appropriate BCJI meetings, presentations, and public events.
- Compile and maintain BCJI calendar of events, database of participants, administrative records, and data for required U.S. Department of Justice quarterly federal reports.
- Manage the BCJI program budget, including overseeing funding contracts and required reports. Work with the City’s fiscal department on oversight and any potential budget modifications.
- Create and implement a BCJI sustainability plan, including identifying and securing additional funding consistent with safety program objectives and managing additional grants as required.
- Participate in CBCR technical assistance to tap into national knowledge-sharing resources and communicate best-practices.
- Work with the Grants Team, as needed, to identify/research Federal, State, and private grant opportunities for economic and community development initiatives, write applications, maintain electronic and hard copy files of completed applications and submissions guidelines, oversee implementation/administration of awards, maintain compliance, and engage in grant reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, political science, or community development field, and five years of professional experience in community development, advocacy, and communications
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Knowledge of the Byrne target neighborhood, local institutions, and available services
- Understanding/experience with state and federal grant opportunities
- Relationships with staff of state and federal agencies/departments
- Ability to understand complexities and create connections between potential funding opportunities and city programs, initiatives, and priorities
- Ability to interpret and navigate local, state, and federal regulations/policies
- Familiarity with grant reporting, program/project management, and compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent written and facilitation skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours and have reliable transportation

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
