Job Characteristics
The City of Eustis is seeking a trustworthy, responsible individual who, under direct supervision, performs entry-level clerical and cashiering work involving the receipt of city utility payments and other miscellaneous payments. Employee provides assistance and explanation to general billing and consumption inquiries through applied customer service skills. Work policies and procedures are specific and well established; however, work may be performed with some independence once experience is gained.

Essential Job Functions
- Receives, counts and records cash and negotiable instruments for payment of utility bills or miscellaneous payments;
- Responsible for accurate data entry;
- Answers customer inquiries concerning bills, rates, adjustments, service and meter readings;
- Establishes and maintains records of utility accounts;
- Prepares work orders;
- Balances daily receipts and cash till;
- Researches and compiles information for utility records;
- Receives and transmits information to various city departments based on work orders;
- Answers the phone, provides information, and takes messages as necessary;
- Sorts, and records returned utility invoices;
- Provides lien request information to the City Clerk;
- Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills :
Knowledge of basic cashiering methods and procedures; knowledge of business mathematics; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; basic knowledge of Microsoft office and Outlook.
Ability to work well with others and assist the public cooperatively and courteously; ability to work calmly and professionally, in a fast-paced environment; ability to process transactions quickly and accurately; ability to research and compile information and maintain accurate records; ability to carry out assignments with minimum instructions; ability to read and write English; ability to remain at a city work shelter, before, during and after a hurricane or other storm or disaster, if asked.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma or recognized equivalent; supplemented by two (2) years cashiering and / or customer service experience, with a demonstrated ability to read / write English and perform math calculations accurately and quickly. Other related experience may be considered.
Working Hours :
Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm.

Physical Demands :
This is primarily sedentary work. Requires sitting for long periods of time; reaching and bending; good finger / hand dexterity and hand / eye coordination; good eyesight, hearing and speech.
Salary Information :
15.88 to $22.51 per hour ($33,047.48 - $46,829.72 annually); EXCELLENT benefits (Note : Benefit information is posted on city website at , or call Human Resources at 352-483-5472). Applicants should expect a starting salary of $15.88 per hour. Only applicants with the most job-related qualifications will be selected for interview and further consideration. Additional consideration may be given to applicants with more extensive education, training, or experience. Final candidates will be subject to skills testing to include : typing, customer service, money handling, and ten-key. Final candidates may be required to pass a drug test and will be given a conditional offer of employment contingent upon satisfactory results of a thorough background check, including criminal history.

Annual Leave :
Annual leave is earned at the rate of eight (8) hours per month through six (6) years. After seven (7) years, additional accruals per year to a maximum of 188.4 hours (23.55 days) per year.
Sick Leave :
Sick leave is earned at the rate of eight (8) hours per month of employment, not to exceed 96 hours (12 days) per year.
Holidays :
Paid holidays include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and a Personal Holiday. Full time employees (except Directors, Deputy Directors or equivalent positions), who are required to work on an approved holiday, receive pay at one and one half (1.5) times their regular hourly rate for time worked on that holiday.
