Under the direction of the officers, this position is responsible for providing fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical services to the community and contracting areas.

Extinguish, and prevent fires, effect rescue and render first aid.
Participate in field, classroom and physical training programs, and keep current with significant changes in fire codes, fire prevention practices, firefighting equipment, procedures and methods, and new construction materials.
Responsible for responding to alarms and emergency calls.
Maintain apparatus, equipment, tools and fire quarters to ensure all are in good condition and working order.
Drive and operate all fire vehicles and have the ability to put into service all equipment used by the department.
Complies with department SOG's, administrative policies, organizational protocols, and state laws affecting the delivery of efficient, cost-effective, and quality fire and rescue services.
Keeps the officers promptly informed of all significant fire department matters to permit the effective performance of the department function, including the status of operations, special events and contemplated personnel actions subject to administrative policies and department SOG's.
Responsible for proper and accurate completion of run reports after each call.
Must be 18 years of age or older; be able to respond to calls within the response time requirements established by the City; and meet the physical and agility requirements of the job as outlined by OSHA, NFPA, or department SOG's; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties listed above.
Candidates must live within a 10-minute drive to a City fire station.
