Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Program Supervisor will perform supervisory and administrative work in directing all phases of youth programs, including youth sports, recreation programs / camps, and other programs as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
Essential Administration Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate, schedule, and evaluate youth programs and activities for all age groups in the community.
- Create and lead practice plans at Tiger T-ball, Footfire Soccer, and programs / camps.
- Coordinate special event programming.
- Maintain records and documentation for programming and training.
- Act as liaison between parents and staff on program concerns
- Document, compile and provide attendance records on a weekly basis.
- Participate in hiring recreation program assistant staff including orientating and monitoring staff training programs.
- Plan and coordinate all necessary staff training including, but not limited to, general orientation, sport specific drills, discipline within programs, and general work with children training.
- Supervise and schedule Recreation Assistant staff.
- Order program supplies, t-shirts, and equipment.
- Monitor, clean and put away equipment.
- Perform end of season job performance evaluations along with the Recreation Supervisors.
Peripheral Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor programs to ensure a positive and safe environment.Ensures policies and procedures are followed.Work with Facilities Maintenance staff to ensure a safe and clean program space.Responds to emergencies.Administers basic first aid and / or CPR as needed until help arrives.Performs other duties as needed or assigned.Attends meetings, seminars or other training as needed.Must be 16 years or olderValid Driver's LicenseMust be proficient in Microsoft Word and OutlookPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships cross functionally.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to use Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.Physical Demands and Work Conditions
Work both indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions depending on assignment.Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers.Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication.Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, walking / standing, and ability to play with children based on assignment.Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, prolonged walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling / carrying equipment.Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills.Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to various sport and play equipment depending on assignment.Travel between work sites may require driving a city vehicle and / or a personal vehicle.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
