Summer 2025
Pay: $20.31 per hour

Required Staff Training and Events:
Open House/Staff Welcome: Wednesday, May 21, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Onsite Training: June 9 - 11
Event staff members start mid-May; other camps and programs run June 16 - August 15. Some programs go into September.

A few things to keep in mind:
All staff are expected to be a part of mandatory staff training on June 9 - 11.
- Hiring preference is given to staff who can commit to more weeks of the full summer. Please share dates you may or will need off before or during your interview.
- Most leadership positions require a full season commitment.
- Assist in the coordination, planning, and day-to-day implementation of summer camps or events and community outreach programs.
- Work with and provide service to individuals from diverse backgrounds (age, ethnicity, socio-economic status, etc.).
- Provide exceptional customer service, including communication both verbally and in writing.
- Serve as on-site lead staff member for programs and events as assigned.
- Communicate with supervisory staff to keep them informed of any concerns or issues related to staff, participants or community individuals.
- Request materials and supplies as needed.
- Complete weekly reports as requested by Supervisor.
- Lead staff in set-up, take-down, and basic cleaning of program area.
- Administer basic first aid as needed – training provided!
- Other duties as assigned.
- Job seekers should be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
- College coursework towards or a degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
- Possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and program implementation.
- Previous experience with a Parks and Recreation agency or related field/setting.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Two (2) years of college coursework in recreation, education, event planning, or closely related field
-OR-
Two (2) years of work experience in recreation-oriented programs, event planning, education or closely related setting. - Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Knowledge of Eagan Parks & Recreation Department and its programs.
Supervision
The Program Assistant will be supervised by the Recreation Supervisor and be provided work direction from the Recreation Programmer(s). Program Assistant will be responsible for work direction of other seasonal staff, leaders in training teen volunteers, and program participants.
Physical Requirements
- While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk and hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
Working Conditions
- Working conditions may include daytime, evening, weekend and holiday hours both indoors and outdoors.
- Outdoor weather conditions may include sun, rain, wind, humidity, high and low temperatures, snow and other natural weather conditions.
