ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: All City of Fayetteville positions require employees to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Other essential duties of this position include the following:
1. Collect, import, and update geographic data from various sources like property records, utility plans, aerial imagery, and field surveys.
2. Ensure data accuracy and consistency by performing quality control checks and data validation.
3. Maintain and update GIS databases, including attribute data and spatial features.
4. Develop and implement data standards and metadata protocols.
5. Conduct spatial analysis using GIS tools to identify patterns, trends, and relationships between geographic data sets.
6. Perform operations like buffering, overlay analysis, proximity analysis, and network analysis to answer specific questions.
7. Generate reports and visualizations based on analysis results.
8. Create thematic maps, base maps, and interactive web maps using GIS software.
9. Design and customize map layouts with appropriate symbology, legends, and labels.
10. Produce printed and digital maps for public use and internal planning purposes.
11. Develop and maintain web-based GIS applications and dashboards to allow users to access and interact with spatial data.
12. Integrate GIS data with other departmental systems to provide a comprehensive view.
13. Provide training and technical assistance to other government staff on using GIS tools and applications.
14. Troubleshoot GIS issues and address user queries.
15. Participate in GIS-related projects, including project planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
16. Collaborate with other departments to identify GIS needs and implement solutions.
17. Coordinate with other governmental entities to ensure compatibility of data, and compliance with regional and state standards.
18. Respond in a courteous and professional manner to requests for information and services from City staff, citizens, other governmental agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
19. Occasional evening or weekend work.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.

2. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
3. GISP Certification from the GIS Certification Institute is desirable.
4. Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses and any offense under A.C.A. 21-15-103 and A.C.A. 21-15-111.
5. Must comply with FBI Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) requirements within 2 weeks of employment.
6. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
7. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical manuals and procedures, or governmental regulations.
8. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
9. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, groups of managers, committees and the general public.
10. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
11. Ability to solve practical problems in real world mapping situations.
12. Ability to read and interpret subdivision plats and engineering design plans.
13. Must be proficient in the use of a computer and related software programs such as word processing and spreadsheet applications. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
14. Must be proficient with ESRI’s suite of desktop and enterprise tools.
15. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required communicate with others both in person and over the phone, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities to accomplish computer and office work.
