Part-time, seasonal employment.
The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for certified Lead Lifeguards to lead lifeguards in professional, responsible, and specialized work as it pertains to public safety and recreation in enforcing rules and regulations, and preventing injuries at a City of Fayetteville aquatics facility; and to lead and perform maintenance tasks in order to continually administer a safe and healthy environment for the public.
Qualified applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have at least 1 years of lifeguard experience
- Currently possess the following American Red Cross certifications:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid; or
- American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding; and
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
Preferred certifications include:
- Certified Pool Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator Certification
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification

Deferred Compensation Plans
Effective January 1, 2025, part-time, seasonal and temporary employees are eligible to participate in the NC 401(k) and NC 457 plan. These plans assist employees in saving for retirement by saving a portion of their pay.
The NC 401(k) and NC 457 plans are both administered by Empower.
Part-time, temporary and seasonal employees can:
- Enroll in the NC 457 Plan.
- Enroll in the NC 401(k) Plan (eligibility begins January 2025)
- Roll over outside assets (if eligible) and take advantage of strong oversight, diverse investment options and low fees.
City employees are paid bi-weekly, every other Friday. As an added convenience and safety measure, the City requires all new employees to sign up for direct deposit of their payroll checks.
