The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Health & Wellness Specialist. The Health & Wellness Specialist is responsible for identifying wellness promotion needs and recommending, planning, designing, and implementing wellness initiatives as well as evaluating the programs for effectiveness. Such programs may include, but are not limited to: nutrition programs, health screenings, health/wellness fairs, awareness events and classes, health communications and health coaching, lifestyle interventions, health education, etc. The Health & Wellness Specialist may also analyze and/or review health claims to assist with program design strategies. The Health & Wellness Specialist is also responsible for participation in the health-related programs of the Health & Safety division including, but not limited to, bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, respiratory protection programs, as well as COVID-19 tracking and reporting.
- Identify, design, develop and implement employee wellness activities to effectively meet the wellness requirements and needs of the organization.
- Integrate wellness program initiatives into the organizational culture and motivate participants to set and reach wellness goals, ensuring continued program growth.
- Coordinate vendor and partner worksite wellness services and activities for employees.
- Serve as the point of contact for employee program participants; includes facilitating internal/external communications such as reports and presentations.
- Coordinate employee wellness committee(s) and committee meetings; submit reports to the Health & Safety Manager after each meeting on the results of the meetings to include discussions and recommendations.
- Lead all wellness activities, projects and initiatives.
- Plan, track, submit, and report financial expenditures for the Wellness UHC Reimbursement program.
- Ensure wellness activities remain compliant with requirements under the Affordable Care Act.
- Participate in the implementation of health-related safety services including conducting noise level (dosimeter) testing, coordinating annual audiometric testing, occupational vaccines, and annual respirator medical evaluations. Coordinate and conduct occupational health related training.

Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in worksite wellness, athletic training, nutrition, public health, or other related health and wellness programs.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Nutrition, Public Health, Occupational Health or a related field.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
None.
Preferred:
Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist (CWWS) or Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP).
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview and skills testing which may include but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
