Under the general direction of the Assistant Parks, Recreation and Aquatics Director, monitor parks for improper use by visitors and ensure compliance of established Park Rules & Regulations. This would include promoting respect for park grounds, educating park visitors regarding rules and regulations, and providing public safety. This position would be responsible for providing a better experience for the citizens enjoying our parks while cutting down on vandalism and illegal activities. Dacca, Brookville and Five Acre Parks have a large number of users and will be the target of the Informational Officer, in an effort to be a constant, recognizable presence. This position reports directly to the Parks Maintenance Coordinator II.SHIFT: Evenings and weekends, Wednesday - Sunday

Any single position may not be assigned all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all duties that may be assigned.Monitors parks, trails, athletic fields and similar park areas to promote positive user experiences, and increase public safetyExhibits a high degree of customer service skills and positive attitude with staff and general public at all times; explains park rules and government regulations; uses tact and diplomacy to handle public inquiries and complaintsDirects the general public on the proper and safe usage of park facilities and amenitiesPrevents infractions of park rules through conversation, and calls for police assistance if circumstances warrantMaintains a high degree of visibility to reduce the likelihood of unauthorized use of amenitiesResolves conflicts with a friendly and professional demeanorRequires driving to various park locations and working nights and weekendsUses safety equipment provided, implements appropriate safety practices at all times and immediately reports any unsafe conditions or hazardsPerforms light janitorial work including trash collection and cleaning restroomsOperate hand, power and automotive equipment while exercising safety precautions to avoid obstacles and peopleOperate various tools including, but not limited to, backpack blower, shovel, broomMaintain compliance with all applicable City, County and Sate laws and City ordinances, policies and procedures at all timesWears proper safety equipment necessary for the jobContributes to a positive team environmentOther duties as assigned
