Enjoy working outside? Looking for a temporary role that pays $15* per hour? Join our Department of Public Works seasonal team! The City of Fishers is hiring Seasonal Laborers to help with spring and summer groundwork and park maintenance. These positions perform general labor supplementing the non-seasonal workforce to ensure city parks and trails, athletic grounds and facilities are maintained. *Returning staff receive a step increase in wages.
We are hiring now for the following start dates: 5/14/25; 5/21/25; 6/4/25; 6/11/25 and are flexible on end dates for returning to school.
Examples of Duties
- Mowing, trimming, landscape maintenance in city parks and on HSE school grounds
- Weeding and maintenance of over 125 athletic fields
- Restroom maintenance
- Trash collection in parks
- Event support
- Other Department of Public Works support duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Prefer 18 years of age or older but will consider younger qualified applicants;
- Valid Driver's License with 3 years of experience and the ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle is preferred but not required;
- Must be able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions;
- Position will be required to work some evenings, weekends and holiday hours;
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs.;
- Ability to use tools, equipment, and machines as needed for daily work while following all safety protocols;
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of people;
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
