Summer Youth Tennis Instructors Needed!HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!This position will remain open until filled. This is Us! This is an exciting opportunity for responsible individuals with a passion for working with kids and a love for tennis! The City of Fitchburg Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking for summer staff to join us as Youth Tennis Instructors.About the Role: Under the general direction and supervision of the Community Center Director, you will provide youth participants ages 4-16 with a fun learning experience, while improving their basic skills and knowledge of tennis. You will also teach the fundamentals and rules of the game as well as teach participants a lifetime sport.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Instructor Responsibilities: Plan, create, and lead daily sessions to teach tennis.Provide a safe, fun, and challenging atmosphere for all participants.Teach the rules and principles of the game to all participants.Do the USTA skills test for each participant the last week of each session.Give USTA Awards to each participant that passes their USTA skills test.Turn in skill test scores to the Recreation Department at the completion of each session.Provide the Rec. Dept. with a detailed daily lesson plan as well as an overall lesson plan for the session.Keep daily attendance records on forms provided by the Recreation Department.Notify the Recreation Department of injuries/accidents, Fill-out an accident report form when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate and work effectively with youth ages 4-16;Ability to work in an efficient and safe manner.Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision; Dress in proper tennis attire (neat in appearance);Possess punctuality.Ability to maintain adequate attendance.Ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and groups.In evaluating candidates for this position, the City may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position.
