What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Aide-Engineering Services-(Survey Instrument Person) position at City of Fort Lauderdale?
In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Operates surveying instruments in topographic, hydrographic or land survey parties
- Prepares and updates survey records, maps, tables, and charts; performs routine engineering computations
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveyor's and engineer's instruments to secure or establish elevations and angles
- Collects data, maintains accurate records and updates asset management data
- Enters and interprets data using software programs
- Performs related work as required
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
- Must possess at least one (1) year of experience on a survey crew, which includes experience or training in the setup, adjustment, operation and care of survey instruments.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.

The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, push, pull, grasp, stand and access heights or areas where limited space is available. May be required to perform work on a marine vessel.

All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
