Serves as the Shift Coordinator of parking enforcement specialists. This is skilled inspection, enforcement and team lead work of average difficulty in the enforcement of parking regulations in the Parking Services Division of the Transportation and Mobility Department. Work is reviewed by the assigned supervisor through observation, reports submitted, and results obtained.In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The omission of a function does not preclude management from assigning essential duties not listed herein if such duties relate to the position.Provides direction to parking enforcement specialists by issuing daily assignments and providing assistance with unusual or difficult parking enforcement activities Exercises initiative and independent judgment in the resolution of routine problems.Oversees parking enforcement specialists on assigned shift, assigns work locations, provides feedback to supervisor Performs more complex parking enforcement, responds and investigates complaints, and handles more difficult parking enforcement cases and issuesPatrols an assigned area and inspects meters and vehicles for violations of parking regulations; writes summons in case of violation Explains applicable parking regulations and procedures for disposition of summons to vehicle operator; cites illegally parked vehicles and calls towing company Troubleshoots problem situations and performs inspections of valet parking operations and recommends suspension or revocation of valet parking permits Immobilizes vehicles on the City scofflaw (three or more outstanding citations) list; collects outstanding fines and fees when called upon to remove immobilization devices on vehicles Performs on-street surveys regarding parking issues including enforcement, meter maintenance and parking regulatory signage Prepares work orders for repair and maintenance of parking enforcement equipment and vehiclesConsults with management staff regarding the selection of enforcement software, hardware, and other parking related purchases or upgradesPerforms related work as required
