What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Technician position at CITY OF FRANKFORT KY?
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction of Building Maintenance Supervisor, position is responsible for maintenance of City buildings and facilities; performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assists with assigned City Building and Facilities Maintenance operations. The assigned City buildings shall include City Hall, Bridge Street Building, Public Safety Building, IT Building and the building previously occupied as Pic-Pac.
• Assists with written cost estimates, prepares specifications, and administers contracts related to building and facilities maintenance.
• As authorized, serves on, and/or represents City on various department, city, and public committees.
• Communicates with appropriate agencies as needed.
• Evaluates division operations and recommends necessary changes to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
• Assists in the development, maintenance, and implementation of long ranges plans and annual objectives.
• Addresses public issues, complaints, and requests.
• Assist Foreman to prepare reports, documentation, and presentations as required.
• Receives complaints and attends to their disposition or forwards to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
• Carries out special projects on behalf of the Building Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
• Strong working knowledge of carpentry, electrical and mechanical systems;
• Assesses situations accurately and determines appropriate action;
• Work is thorough, timely and reflects follow-through to completion;
• Communicates clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, utilizes thorough record keeping;
• Able to prioritize workload.
• Is knowledgeable about the subject matter, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to area of responsibility.
