Transit Security Officer - Part-Time
Starting Hourly Pay: $21.65
Position Overview:
The City of Fredericksburg is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Transit Security Officer on a part time basis. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of Transit properties, personnel, customers, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general security and safety duties at all transit facilities and amenities
- Patrol grounds and buildings to monitor for security and safety issues
- Take appropriate action to address security incidents and customer-related issues
- Monitor alarm, camera, and security systems at FRED facilities
- Ride transit buses across a four-jurisdiction area to maintain a visible security presence
- Write clear and descriptive reports on incidents and activities
- Collaborate and interact with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
- High school diploma or equivalent technical training/degree in law enforcement
- Minimum of two years’ experience in law enforcement, security, or related fields
- Proficient in operating a radio, tablet/iPad, cellphone, computer, and related software
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and physical abilities testing (with reasonable accommodations)
- Virginia DCJS approved Security Officer Training with Firearm Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- CPR and First Aid certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment
- Must comply with the City of Fredericksburg’s drug and alcohol testing program
- Up to 28 hours per week; hours may vary and may include occasional weekends and/or evenings
