Payroll Specialist
Hiring Range : $60,000-70,000 DOQ
Job Summary :
The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to manage the City’s payroll and related disbursement programs. This position involves ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance with tax laws, and serving as a subject matter expert on payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage biweekly and supplemental payroll for hourly and salary employees.
- Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in payroll data.
- Serve as the functional system administrator for automated time and attendance and payroll systems.
- Develop and implement payroll procedures and reports based on customer and regulatory needs.
- Train users and provide ongoing technical support for payroll applications.
- Prepare and process remittances for withholdings, benefits, and payroll taxes.
- Handle post-employment activities such as retiree and COBRA insurance.
- Ensure compliance with payroll, personnel, benefits, and tax laws.
- Update and maintain databases for wage, tax, and benefit reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the Finance Department.
