What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee position at City of Freeport?
The City of Freeport, IL has a full time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee position available. This position participates in the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and ancillary systems. This is a 3rd shift position from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
The qualified candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED; Illinois EPA Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License or ability to obtain within 1 year; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form; knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of equipment assigned; ability to operate computers and computer related equipment; one year of experience in wastewater treatment plant operation or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing tasks in the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant ensuring that it meets regulatory requirements as set forth by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA); inspects and tests equipment, adjusts chemical dosages, follows standard operating procedures; collects samples and performs laboratory tests for process control and regulatory compliance, inputs data for reports; inputs work requests for general building maintenance and equipment repairs; provides assistance and coordination with the Maintenance Division for the repair or replacement of Wastewater; responds to citizen complaints and after-hours service requests and is subject to call in for operational problems and/or employee absences.
Starting salary for this position is $20.31/hour with an excellent benefit package that includes health, dental, vision, & life insurance, paid time off, plus an IMRF pension.
