Facility Attendant/Field Monitor (Ages 18+)

JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Facility Attendant provides operational supervision of community centers during the absence of full-time staff. Work hours may vary but will often be evenings, weekends and occasionally weekdays. The location of the facility will be discussed during the interview and may be for multiple locations depending on availability.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)Supervision of user fee classes and private group usesLight maintenanceProvide general assistance with office work, answer telephones and assist facility visitorsLight lifting and moving of equipmentInterpret Department policyReceive use permits and payments for community centersAssist in organizing and implementing special events and holiday programsCreate and prepare lobby bulletin boards and displays promoting special events and holiday programsPerform other duties as assignedSUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVEDThe Recreation Supervisor at the assigned community center provides general supervisionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be least 18 years of AND one year or one summer work or volunteer experienceWillingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidaysAbility to work independently and reliably complete assigned tasksMust possess basic clerical and computer skillsAbility to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with othersAbility to tactfully resolve guest / associate concernsREQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENTMust be able to handle sensitive and / or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentialityMust effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgroundsWillingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)Employees are required to be certified in Adult / Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent. Employees must be certified within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work, whichever occurs earlier.Fingerprinting and TB test are requiredMust submit verification of legal right to work in the United States as a condition of employmentSELECTION PROCESSQualified application will be evaluated on the basis of related experience and quality of presentation.The most highly qualified applicants will be invited to an oral interview. Applicant evaluations may include a written and physical test. Satisfactory candidates will be placed on an eligibility list. Placements are anticipated immediately after the list is established.
