To perform inspections and enforce related codes and ordinances adopted by the City of Gainesville as directed by the Community Development Director.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
EXAMPLES OF DUTIESDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Performs inspections and follow-up on public and staff complaints including but not limited to inspecting potential violations related to: fences public nuisance violations (lot visibility, trash and debris)structures (property maintenance, construction without a permit, dilapidated/substandard structures)signs junk vehicles pool violations (stagnant water and fencing)non-compliance with City code violations Maintains case files, including but not limited to: entering case information into applicable data processing program (MyGov)collecting related data (property liens, taxes, past violations) taking photographs of code violations for documentation purposesdocumenting all relative conversations with property owners and lien holdersManages casescommunicates with the public regarding complaints and violationsexplains the City’s voluntary demolition program to qualified property ownersissues citations, notices of violation, and summons prepares dilapidated/substandard building cases and other code enforcement vases for presentation to the Building Standards Commissionfollows through with demolition orders and voluntary demolition agreements through demolition to complete site clean-up (includes physically helping to remove trash and debris demolition sites)Reviews permit applications and recommends approval or revision for permits such as the following: SignsFencesAccessory BuildingsMoss Lake Dock PermitsGenerallyAnswer questions and provide information to the public concerning junk vehicles, grass, weeds, dilapidated structures, and other code compliance subjects.Inventory supplies and ensure that adequate levels of supplies and materials are maintained for assignments.Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints in regard to code violations.Ensure that all service is efficient, effective and courteous.Prepare and submit reports concerning inspections, investigations and daily activities. Report potential problems to Community Development Director as necessary.Work with the Police Department, Fire Marshal, and Streets Department as necessary.Additional Duties: Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe following physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. Frequently is required to walk, stand and reach with hands and arms.Must drive code enforcement vehicles, sometimes for the majority of the work day. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or smell.Regularly required to move 10 pounds.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
