Department: GG_Sustainable Development: Building Inspection Salary Range Minimum: $16.43 Salary Range Maximum: $23.58 Closing Date: 07/28/2023 Job Details: This is entry level administrative and technical work reviewing, routing, and tracking permits and providing superior customer service.Positions allocated to this classification report to the Strategic Customer Experience Supervisor and work under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classifications by its emphasis on entry level work as a member of the Permit Expeditor Team.NOTE: There are three levels to the Permit Expeditor job family. The Permit Expeditor I classification must progress to the Permit Expeditor II classification within the first two years of appointment. The Permit Expeditor III is optional for progression. Job Description: As a Permit Expeditor I, you'll provide a direct link between the citizens and the Department of Doing by understanding and communicating basic elements of the Florida Building Code to both novices and experts. Serves as a guide, liaison, empathetic emissary, expert, and doer assisting citizens through the permitting process. Serves as a problem solver on behalf of citizens. Pre-screens development plans for sufficiency prior to routing for review. Assists applicants in development plan review by monitoring the status of applications and providing assistance. Develops and tracks permit activity including preparation of reports and metrics. Responds to citizen inquiries and provides information relating to building permits, general zoning and land development; tracks inquiries and provides assistance regarding specific matters within area of expertise. Processes payments for permits and reconciles cash batch daily. Registers new contractors and updates contractor insurance records. Collects and analyzes customer service data. Facilitates issuance of permits for new development, re-development, new and expanding businesses, and responds to inquiries about the process of obtaining a permit. Provides receipts and reconciliation of permit fees. Answers customer phone calls and provides permit information. Receives and enters inspection requests into computer. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalently diploma; and One (1) year data entry and customer service experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.
