Position Summary
The Operations Manager of Municipal Vehicle Maintenance and Fleet Management plays a critical role in overseeing the city's fleet operations with a strong focus on municipal budgeting, cost control, and financial planning. This position ensures efficient and cost-effective maintenance, repair, and procurement of vehicles and equipment while adhering to budgetary constraints and optimizing resource allocation.
The Operations Manager will develop and manage the fleet budget, analyze expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities to maximize the city's investment in its fleet. Additionally, this role involves supervising a team of technicians, coordinating with various city departments, and implementing strategies to enhance fleet efficiency, minimize downtime, and extend vehicle life span—all while ensuring compliance with municipal financial policies and operational requirements.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fleet Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, vehicle maintenance, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of technicians.
