What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Technician position at City of Gastonia?
Performs intermediate skilled trades work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation and construction of City buildings; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Division Manager of Building Maintenance.
General knowledge of the standard practices, building codes, tools, terminology and OSHA safety requirements and precautions; general knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials; skill in the use of carpentry tools and equipment; ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to estimate needed materials and time required for various jobs and complete daily reports.Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by additional course work in construction mathematics, drafting/blue print reading and having moderate experience in all trades necessary for the upkeep and maintenance of municipal buildings, facilities and structures.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
NIMS Training IS-700 within twelve months of hire.
Valid North Carolina driver license.
