Job Description

Job Summary :

Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent, performs duties related to the operations of the Glenn Heights Community Center. These duties include the front desk, rentals, athletic leagues, class programming, youth room, rentals, gymnasium, and fitness center. This position is also charged with enforcing Community Center rules and regulations. In addition - organizes and implements recreational activities and programs for citizens. Promotes programs and services and encourages participation from area residents.

Typical Duties

Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities :

Essential duties and functions may include the following. Must possess required knowledge skills, abilities and experience and to be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Greets Community Center guests, answers questions regarding the Community Center and / or the City of Glenn Heights, answers phone, and provides excellent customer service.
  • Registers participants for classes.
  • Sells Community Center memberships and programs. This includes handling credit card transactions, receiving cash, and counting correct change.
  • Provides tours of the Community Center.
  • Checks out gym and game equipment to guests.
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks to include filing, organizing, inventory, etc.
  • Supports other areas of the Community Center by assisting with special events, and facility rentals / coverage.
  • Attends mandatory training and in-service meetings.
  • Informs supervisor of all work-related activities.
  • Adheres to the personnel, safety, and divisional policies of the City.
  • Assists co-workers and other divisions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Licenses and Certifications :

  • Texas Class "C" driver's license.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to learn Parks and Recreation software
  • Must be assertive and have decision making capabilities.

    Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, written correspondence, and communication skills

    Ability to work independently.

    Exceptional Customer Service Skills and Practices

    Basic understanding vehicle safety rules and operating procedures.

  • The incumbent may perform work in an outdoor environment with exposure to hazardous and unpleasant conditions in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings and inclement weather.
  • Work requires frequent stooping, standing, walking, sitting, twisting, pulling, pushing.

    May be required to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds of equipment multiple times per day.

    Texas Municipal Retirement System

    Employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 1000 hours per year shall participate in a statewide retirement program at 6% mandatory contribution with a city match of 1 : 1.
