Summary of Position
Position Overview
The City of Golden Valley's Community Development team is seeking a motivated, talented, and socially conscious individual for the Housing & Economic Development Intern. An individual in this position will have the opportunity to assist on several development projects as well as the opportunity to create and develop marketing materials, produce new events for housing, research emerging trends in housing and economic development, and gather data for housing and economic development projects in the community. The Intern's work can vary based on their particular areas of interest, including various aspects of housing, business development, planning, research and analysis, and / or program administration.
Expected Hours of Work
Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 : 30 pm. In addition to working office hours, staff may be required to work additional events, which may include nights or weekends. This temporary position has a maximum term of 500 hours. Expectation is up to 40 hours per week in summer.

- Creation of marketing materials and event planning for programs in collaboration with other City Departments
Develop a Just Deeds event for the City
Support project staff by researching topics and analyzing data
Support the development and implementation of a Realtor Forum
Support the implementation of small business programs
Support various housing, redevelopment, economic inclusion, and business development activities
Contribute to projects that support accomplishments of City goals.
Participate in various projects with the Community Development Department as needed and per the interest of the intern.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
A valid driver's license.
Ability to complete the essential duties and responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Desired Qualifications
A year of post-secondary education in related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience working with ArcGIS, asset management software, permit and plan review software, and Microsoft Office 365.

Work is conducted mostly indoors with sporadic site visits. Employee can be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Exposure to adverse weather conditions and / or in the presence of heavy construction equipment may occur on project sites. Employee is subject to noise, but generally free from additional work hazards.
