What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Volleyball Volunteer Coach position at City of Goodyear?
BRIEF COACH DESCRIPTION:
Help make a difference in your community by becoming a City of Goodyear Volunteer Coach! Volunteers are an essential part of City of Goodyear youth sports leagues and we need your help to make our programs a success. Whether you have a child on the team or not, you are welcome to apply to become a volunteer in our youth sports programs.
The volleyball season begins the week of March 3rd. The expected time commitment is approximately 3-4 hours per week. Practices are 1-2 nights a week with games on Saturdays beginning March 15. This recreational league places an emphasis on equal playing time, sportsmanship, and having fun.
COACHING BENEFITS:
- Head coaches will receive a credit after successful completion of season ($90 Resident Rate).
- Reserved indoor practice space at Goodyear school gyms.
- Opportunity to request up to 5 players on your team plus your own child.
- Head coach will receive coach shirt and equipment provided at each practice.
- Receive volunteer hours.
COACHING EXPECTATIONS:
- Coaches are expected to attend in-person coaches meeting and are responsible for contacting their teams after the meeting.
- Basic knowledge of the game, rules and the ability to demonstrate and communicate proper skills and drills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with players, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work with no supervision; attend all practices and games.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement meaningful and instructive practice plans.
- Emphasize teamwork, equal participation, and good sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with league administrators as well as team parents via phone, email, or text regarding schedules, league updates, rules, etc.
COACHING REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be 18 years of age
- Submission of online background check.
- Abide by Code of Conduct
