The City of Grand Junction Engineering Division seeks a creative, team-oriented Engineering Technician to provide support on utility infrastructure projects. Under the supervision of professional engineering staff, this position will be primarily responsible for drafting, designing, and preparing engineering drawings on waterlines and other capital improvement projects. Applicants proficient in using AutoCAD Civil3D software with experience in the design of water and/or wastewater projects are encouraged to apply.

About the Engineering Division:
The Engineering Division consists of a highly diversified work group that provides engineering, land surveying, real estate, and construction services to support all departments within the City. The Engineering Division works collaboratively with the Utility Department to provide a wide variety of design and technical services on capital projects from conceptual level support through preparation of final construction documents.

Duties
What You'll Do:
- Prepare construction drawings and details for the design and construction of public works projects.
- Establish horizontal/vertical control monumentation for projects.
- Combine all design methods and disciplines to form complete, correct, and concise construction drawings for capital improvement projects.
- Participate in the preparation of quantity estimates for capital improvement projects.
- Prepare a variety of illustrations, graphics, and visual aids for various meetings and presentations using a variety of specialized software.
- Provide assistance and information to the public, contractors, and others regarding the City's infrastructure and engineering services and activities.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the record keeping and filing systems.
- Prepare, assemble and distribute copies of maps, charts and blueprints as requested.
- Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities for assigned programs.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing technical engineering work including experience with civil engineering design software programs and applications.
- Associate's Degree or Certification from an accredited institution with course work in engineering technology.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
