What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Technician I position at City of Grapevine?
Assists in the construction, installation and maintenance of traffic signs, pavement markings, signals and school flashers throughout the City of Grapevine in accordance with City policies and the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD). Under supervision, the incumbent assists in the construction, installation and maintenance of traffic signs, pavement markings, signals and school flashers.
1. Fabricates and installs signs.
2. Installs and maintains pavement markings on road surface by means of paint, thermoplastic or raised pavement markings and reflective buttons.
3. Cuts, trims or removes trees, shrubs, etc. from obstructing signals or signs.
4. Installs and maintains guard rails.
5. Performs traffic studies such as traffic counts, turning movement counts, speed and delay studies etc., as directed.
6. Assists in the construction, installation and maintenance of traffic signal equipment and school flashers.
7. Accurately records and documents all work activities as directed.
8. Is on call on a rotating basis.
9. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
10. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
11. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of training or experience in a similar position.
Requires a Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of hire date or promotion.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, functional assessment screening (Level 1), Ishihara vision screening, Titmus vision screening, and must not exceed a weight limit of 350 lbs.
