Job Summary:
As a member of the Golf Management Team, the Assistant Golf Professional II assists the Head Golf Professional in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facility. The position is also responsible for the supervision and management of golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Degree or GED.
- Minimum of two years of golf course experience required with at least one year as an Assistant Golf Professional.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
- Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
- Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.
- Service and customer focused attitude.
- Experienced in written and oral business communications.
- Remains up to date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.
- Experienced computer user including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament and database.
- Maintains and promote a positive professional image within the community.
- Attends conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.
- Maintains a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.
Essential Functions:
- Assists with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play.
- Assists with all opening and closing procedures.
- Assists in managing facility tournament operations including weekly events.
- Assists in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre-tournament contracts, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up.
- Conducts individual lessons and group clinics.
- Assists with men’s, women’s, and junior golf events and programs.
- Assists in Player Development programs.
- Assists the Golf Division Manager with creating and deploying an annual marketing campaign for the golf division.
- Assists with management of outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved.
- Assists in managing golf car operation and practice facilities.
- Assists in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales.
- Plays golf with a variety of members and/or guests as time permits.
- Assists in planning and budgeting for the golf operations.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
- Assists with the administration of applicable staff via recordkeeping, work schedules, etc. in accordance with facility human resource policies.
- Assists in coordinating golf activities with other departments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Organizes and delegates assignments to team members.
- Hires, trains, motivates and coaches employees.
- Evaluates employee performance and goal setting.
- Holds employees accountable for assigned tasks and goals.
- Provides timely and constructive feedback and training opportunities.
- Provides training opportunities with a focus on employee development.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work Environment
- Will work in all weather conditions
- Frequent and heavy contact with the public and City employees in person and by telephone.
- Frequent interruptions.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekdays, nights, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Work is performed in an open office environment with heavy noise levels, at times.
Physical Requirements
- Vision to perform physical activities, read computer keyboards, reference books, and other written documents.
- Strength and stamina enough to walk, stand, stretch, bend, lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity enough to complete daily work such as operate computer keyboards, drive and operate motor vehicles, and operate other office equipment, and complete paperwork.
Travel
- May travel up to 10% of the time.
