Job Summary:
Ice Haus Coach - Hockey is an integral part of the recreation division with the City of Greely and are responsible for providing quality customer service to patrons as well as the oversight of Ice Haus programs with the responsibility for safety, instructing and supervising and testing ice skating lesson participants.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Two (2) years of hockey playing experience with a basic knowledge of the game.
- Must have a Level 1 CEP coaching certification through USA hockey or be willing to attain necessary certification within 3 months of hire.
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid and AED or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire required.

Essential Functions:
- Program Instruction
- Instructs, tests, and evaluates participants in the skating lesson program.
- Adequately plans and prepares in advance of teaching in an effort to foster skill development in each participant
- Provides ongoing corrective feedback to participants and relay progress to parents/guardians.
- Maintains order and discipline in classes to ensure a safe environment and to promote a learning atmosphere.
- Facility/ Risk Management
- Enforces all facility rules, safety, and policies.
- Ensures participants use of City equipment, such as rental skates and hockey gear, is within established guidelines and that gear is of correct fit and function.
- Customer Service & Engagement
- Demonstrates professionalism in all forms of communication such as in-person, email, phone calls, video calls and texts.
- Enforces facility regulations, policies, and procedures; positively represent the City in interactions.
- Resolves program issues within established guidelines.
- Relays various inquiries to supervisors.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Frequent and heavy contact with the public and City employees in person and by telephone.
- Frequent interruptions.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekdays, nights, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Work performed in cold indoor settings.
- Majority of work performed on ice surface.
- Regular exposure to loud noises
- Work involves skating, walking, standing, stretching, bending, as well as lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
