What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Recreation Camp Instructor position at City of Green Bay?
Responsible for instructing introductory full day youth camps at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
Ability to perform the following activities:
- Instructs, promotes, and supervises introductory youth programs to develop a variety of skills, self-confidence and to teach children about nature and S.T.E.A.M. concepts consisting of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
- Ensures safety of participants and communicates any behavioral issues to parents.
- Opens and secures facilities. Maintains applicable equipment.
- Completes and maintains required paperwork including attendance forms and lesson plans.
- Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy that is set forth by the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
- Lead field trips.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with children.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience instructing youth in related S.T.E.A.M. concepts desirable.
- Working knowledge of recreation facilities and programs.
- Skill and ability in effective leadership. Ability to maintain accurate
- Ability to plan, organize, direct, and maintain control of activities and children. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and general public.
- Ability to work the required hours of the position.
- Basic comfort level if presented with the opportunity to handle animals for the purpose of education during camp.
Ability to perform the following activities:
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, crouching, and kneeling.
- Occasional sitting, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions indoors and outdoors.
