The position of Community Service Officer is a civilian, non-sworn, part-time employee of the Greenfield Police Department. As such the Community Service Officer will enhance the services provided by the Greenfield Police Department to allow Sworn-personnel the ability to better serve and perform their duties.

- Traffic control
- Assisting motorists
- Parking enforcement
- Investigate animal complaints
- Respond to other service calls as required

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. A CSO is assigned hours based on the requirements of the department. The shift may be days, early or late. Must be able to work weekends and holidays if needed.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent. Current enrollment at an accredited technical school, college, or university with an emphasis in police science or law enforcement related studies. Eligibility will continue up to one year after graduation.

Qualifications
Ability to effectively work with others toward the goals and mission of the Greenfield Police Department. No felony conviction or conviction of any other offense which if committed in Wisconsin could be punished as a felony unless granted a complete and unconditional pardon. No misdemeanor conviction which is substantially related to the position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Possession and maintenance of Wisconsin driver’s license.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met and maintained by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While engaging the duties of this job employees will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, while wearing the required Community Service Officer Uniform and equipment. The ability to balance, bend and twist, talk, hear, to see, lift over 30 pounds of weight, and be free of emotional or medical condition that would adversely impact the performance of duties.
Work Environment
The following provides a general description of the type of work environment a Community Service Officer can expect to encounter in the performance of their duties. Community Service Officers will be expected to work in varying outside weather and seasonal conditions along with the other variables of the outside environment.
Equipment Used
Community Service Officers will be expected to use the equipment provided by the police department to include computers and computer software, telephone, portable/mobile radio, various types of vehicles. It is expected that employees are able to adapt to changes in equipment as technology advances. - Ability to communicate in both verbal and written formats to include speaking effectively with citizens, fellow employees, and superiors.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Applicants may be required to submit to a pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to appointment. All applicants will be fingerprinted and a record check made of local, state or federal authorities. In addition a comprehensive background investigation will be conducted. Salary and Benefits
Wages and benefits are determined by the existing Non-Represented Employee Resolution.
