About the Role

As a Heavy Equipment Operator , you will :

  • Operate heavy equipment to perform preventative and emergency maintenance on the city's sanitary sewer system.
  • Maintain and service all associated sewer maintenance equipment .
  • Complete daily work logs, sanitary sewer overflow reports, and required documentation for internal and state reporting.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of a Vactor Helper on the crew.
  • Perform heavy lifting, climbing, bending, and stooping in physically demanding conditions.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation and respond to emergencies and inclement weather conditions as needed.

  • Experience operating heavy equipment , preferably in sewer maintenance or a similar field.
  • Strong leadership skills to direct and evaluate team members.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks in demanding outdoor environments.
  • Willingness to work on-call and in emergency situations .

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma / GED

    • OR" combination of 3 years of education along with 4 years of directly related work experience

  • Valid Class "B" Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement
  • 1 or more years of experience operating Heavy Equipment (Combo Cleaning Trucks, Rodder Trucks, etc.)

    • An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications) :

  • Prior Leadership Experience
  • NCAWWA Grade 2 or higher Collections Certification

    • Requirements

    Work Schedule : Monday - Thursday; 6 : 15 am - 4 : 45 pm (10 hr shifts)
