Learn more Here Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm About the Role: Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for accuracy and efficiency? Join us as an Accountant, where you'll apply your knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting standards to ensure financial transparency and accuracy. In this role, you will: Reconcile the City’s bank accounts—including five imprest accounts—to the general ledger. Review and verify financial data, ensuring accuracy across all accounting systems and interfaces.Prepare journal entries, adjustments, and financial reports for City departments, boards, and the State of North Carolina.Collaborate with City departments and financial institutions on cash reconciliation and pending adjustments.Assist in the preparation of schedules and statements for auditors and contribute to the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.Maintain the City’s Statement of Values, updating property risk exposure for asset replacement value.Your work will play a critical role in maintaining the City's financial integrity and ensuring public funds are managed responsibly.What We’re Looking For: We’re seeking a proactive and detail-driven professional who: Has a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.Is skilled in data analysis and problem-solving, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them efficiently.Can communicate complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders.Thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with diverse teams across departments.Ready to Make a Difference?If you’re passionate about financial stewardship and want to contribute to a thriving community, we’d love to hear from you!
