- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

About the Role:
The Park Attendant will work at Hester Park and help support a wide range of operations including customer service, maintenance, and groundskeeping. This is a hands-on role with a variety of tasks that keep our parks safe, clean, and welcoming.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate equipment including mowers, tractors, loaders, boat motors, pickup trucks, UTVs, dump trucks, and hand tools
Perform grounds maintenance, mowing, and facility cleaning
Provide excellent customer service to park guests and support partner organizations using the park
Assist with special event setup, operation, and cleanup
Follow safety and park operation procedures
Lift and carry moderate to heavy items (50–100 lbs), and remain physically active throughout shifts
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid N.C. Driver’s License and/or reliable means of transportation.
- Cleaning experience
- Customer service experience
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, evenings
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience working outdoors
