· Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of athletic sports fields; performs routine gardening functions such as ground preparation, raking, turf sweeping, and general grounds clean up; ensures weed and insect management.
· Operates small engine and outdoor power equipment (including, but not limited to: edgers, spreaders, rototillers, rollers, weed eaters, turf sweepers, chain saws, tractors, etc.) as appropriate; provides minor tool and equipment maintenance and repair; identifies which tool/equipment/material is right for the job at hand.
· Prepares each field to meet the needs of individual sporting activities and events, including multiple events on the same day; establishes standard setups for various sports seasons and sporting activities.
· Cleans sports complex (including but not limited to stands, storage facilities, and restroom facilities); picks up litter.
· Adjusts and monitors irrigation equipment and systems; makes minor repairs, as appropriate.
· Maintains a safe work environment; informs Grounds Supervisor of hazardous situations or unsafe procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be punctual, reliable, hard-working, and able to work independently.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
· No weight/lifting restrictions. Must be able to move and lift objects and materials weighing approximately 50 lbs. Must also be able to squat, stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders and scaffolding. Must have manual dexterity for using various equipment.
· Working Conditions: frequent exposure to cold, heat, rain, snow, and other types of inclement weather which require appropriate gear and clothing.
· Required to make site analysis of situations and determine the proper course of action. Also required to shift tasks and prioritize.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
