Duties
- Receive and assess incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Utilize GPS and GIS technology to determine the location of incidents and dispatch appropriate resources.
- Communicate effectively with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical personnel to relay critical information.
- Manage multiple phone systems while maintaining clear communication with callers and responders.
- Analyze situations quickly to prioritize response efforts and ensure public safety.
- Negotiate with callers in crisis situations to gather necessary information while providing reassurance.
- Document all communications accurately in real-time using typing skills for record-keeping purposes.
- Participate in ongoing training programs related to dispatching protocols, conflict management, and emergency response.
Skills
- All job-related certifications will be acquired through the regular course of training
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly.
- Experience in dispatching or emergency response environments is preferred, but not required.
