Appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Administrative Assistant, the Service Laborer, under the immediate supervision of a Department Manager or Supervisor is responsible for performing general manual labor and maintenance work at City owned parks and facilities.
The successful candidate will work to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks using hand tools and various types of motorized equipment, will work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, and meets the requirements outlined below.

- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must demonstrate reliable and predictable attendance.
- Must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
Available positions:
Part-time - maximum of 28 hours per week
Seasonal - 40 hours per week for 5 months
The Service Laborer shall have the following duties under his/her direct supervisor:
- Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
- Supports the service department by successfully executing daily job assignments.
- Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks to assist with the efficient delivery of City services (e.g., litter cleanup, mowing, painting, patching roadways, assists with erecting street signs, leaf collection, snow removal, etc.); assists with maintenance and operation of City-owned equipment and vehicles; inspects equipment and tools prior to operation to ensure safety; maintains City tools and equipment as required; assists with rough and finished carpentry work; trimming and/or cutting trees and brush, cleans streets, curbs, and catch basins; assists with some minor electrical work as assigned; cleans City facilities.
- Town Center area maintenance (e.g., litter cleanup, table, bench and umbrella repair, event preparation).
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium to heavy work.
