PART TIME HORICULTURALIST

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time Horticulturalist to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who have a strong interest in plant care and horticulture, and who enjoy working in an outdoor environment. The Horticulturalist will be responsible for maintaining various plant species, ensuring their health and vitality, and contributing to the overall beauty of our gardens and landscapes.

Responsibilities

· Identifies and obtains necessary plants; participates in planting, transplanting, fertilizing, spraying, and general care of plant and trees.

· Provides turf maintenance for parks and ball fields including seeding, fertilizing, weed control, mulching, irrigation, and mowing.

· Operates landscaping tools and equipment as needed.

· Chooses and applies a variety of herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals.

· Participates in constructing planting beds, park facilities, and other public grounds facilities; identifies supplies needed.

· Prunes trees using bucket truck or other equipment.

Qualifications

· Good knowledge of pesticide applications

· Some knowledge of flowers, trees, shrubs and landscaping activities

· Some knowledge of the operation, care and maintenance of assigned equipment

· Skilled in the operation of assigned equipment

· Ability to work independently in the performance of duties

· Ability to use initiative and good judgment in work performance

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

· Ability to operate assigned equipment effectively

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background, physical and drug screen.

Must posess a high school diploma or GED.

Possession of the appropriate certification issued by North Carolina required to apply pesticides and herbicides is a plus.
