What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANT COORDINATOR position at City of Harrisonville?

General Definition of Work
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator of Youth Programs & Special Events, the employee will be responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the day-to-day operation and recreation activities of the Summer Camp program for the Harrisonville Parks & Recreation Department.
Essential Functions
- Researches, organizes, implements & evaluates all summer camp daily activities and field trips.
- Creates age appropriate summer camp experiences for all program participants.
- Assists with the hiring and supervision of all summer camp staff.
- Registers program participants in RecTrac recreation management software.
- Provides clear and complete instructions for activities to the summer camp staff.
- Ensures that all program schedules are completed in a timely manner.
- Conducts regular staff meetings with all summer camp staff.
- Promotes the summer camp program by creating high quality print flyers and/or brochures.
- Attends and leads all summer camp field trips and weekly visits to the Harrisonville Outdoor Aquatic Center.
- Performs public relations tasks such as answering phones and responding to inquiries from the public.
- Enforcement of facility policies and City rules and regulations.
- Reports problems, suggestions or equipment issues immediately to the Recreation Coordinator of Youth Programs & Special Events.
- Records any incidents and/or accidents according to the Harrisonville Parks & Recreation policy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising children ages 5-12 yrs old strongly preferred.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.
- Basic knowledge of sports, games, outdoor actives, and assigned activities.
- Able to be on your feet for most of the work shift.
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.
